The far long-wave ultraviolet lichen planus therapy with the use of clearing agents

Summary:

 The goal: to increase the effectiveness of far long-wave ultraviolet therapy in patients with lichen planus using immersion agents. Materials and Methods. The study included 50 patients aged from 18 to 65 years with typical and hypertrophic forms of lichen planus who had received UVA1-therapy. All the patients were divided into 2 groups: in the 1-st group before the phototherapy on the elements of lichen planus caused an clearing agent propylene glycol (PG) and in the 2nd group PG was not used. The dynamics of the enlightenment of the skin was assessed using optical coherence tomography. After the end of treatment was a decrease in mean group values of ILP 96% of the original value, pruritic index 98%, DLQI 87% respectively. Results. In the 1-st group patients occurred more rapid resolution of the pathological process, the rate of phototherapy was 15-20 procedures. In the 2nd group to complete resolution of the pathological process, required an increase in the number of procedures to 20-25. Conclusion. Far long-wave UV therapy showed high efficacy and compliance in patients with lichen planus, the use of the 1,2-PG allowed to shorten the duration of treatment of patients.

Comparative evaluation of clarifying agents to improve the quality of the far long-wave ultraviolet therapy chronic dermatosis

Summary:

Objective; to choose the optical clearing agent with the best illuminating ability in the long-wave UV spectrum used in phototherapy. Material and methods. Ex vivo skin samples were used as objects of study. Measurement of the total transmission spectra of the skin sections was carried out on a multi-channel spectrometer Ocean Optics QE 65000 (Ocean Optics, USA) using 4 optical clearing agents (40% glucose solution, glycerol, propylene glycol, oleic acid).
Results. Having conducted a comparative analysis of ex vivo data collected from spectroscopy of these optical clearing agents at a wavelength of 370 nm, it was found that the maximum optical clearing was achieved using propylene glycol at 44 minutes, which was 11.56%. Conclusion. The use of optical clearing agents is possible not only to improve the visualization of the skin structure, but also to explore the dynamics of light transmission in long-wave UV A-1 therapy of patients.

Summary:

Aim: working out the methods of visualization of information obtained during optical coherent tomography in normal skin and in series of inflammatory disorders. Materials and Methods. OCS1300SS (made in Thorlabs, USA) was used in which the source of emission of radiation was a super-luminiscent diode with mean wavelength of 1325 nm. 12 patients with different skin conditions and 5 virtually healthy volunteers were examined with ОСТ procedure in OPD and IPD settings. High resolution USG numerical system DUB (TPM GmbH, Germany) was used for comparative USG assessment. Results. ОСТ demonstrated considerably more detailed picture of the objects scanned compared to USG investigation. Image obtained with the help of ОСТ contains vital information about sizes of macro-morphological elements, status of vascular elements and their density in different depths of the skin. Conclusion. Additional results obtained from ОСТ of the skin lesions in plane section improves attraction for ОСТ in practical dermatology.

Goal: to examine the effectiveness of use low coherent reflectometry method for diagnostic purposes in clinical dermatology. Materials and methods. For measurements optical coherence tomography OCS1300SS (Thorlab, USA) with swiped frequency was used. 12 patients with different skin diseases were studied (psoriasis, acne, scleroderma, etc.). Results. Distinct border was detected between layers with different optical characteristics (and structure) at a depth of 1000 m to 2000 microns for majority of the samples studied. It is important to note that a good regerneration of distribution of the interference signal during transmission from one section to another and close to an exponential decay of signal with an increase in depth of probing. Conclusion. As a criterion of pathological changes,may be proposed the degree of spatial uniformity in distribution decay constant of interference signal in depth obtained with help of low coherent reflectometry (in vivo).

Summary:

Method of the epidermal surface biopsy (ESB) with the adhesive compositions is the alter-native to the classic his-tological examination. Materials and Methods. In this study medical adhesive "Sulfacrylate" was used, small portions of which had been spread on an object glass, and then on different skin areas. To study the structural organization of the samples ESB the technique of optical coherence tomography (ОСТ) was used. Results. We obtained the pictures that visualize the structural organization of the different layers of the epidermis in lichen planus, hyperkeratosis, scabies and other skin diseases. Conclusion. This technique allows non-invasive measurement of high-precision structure of different layers of the epidermis, which can be useful both for research and for the practical dermatology.
