The article describes the experience of the organization of Olympiad in Internal medicine at the medical university for senior students and clinical residents. The paper presents the possibility of Olympiad in Internal medicine at the medical university is a modern educational technology that increases interest to the disciplines and motivation to professional development and formation of professional competencies. Such type of Olympiad helps future therapeutics to improve in their specialty and to form a personal reserve for the future work in the medical and research team, promotes continuity between students and postgraduate trainers in higher professional medical education.

Summary:

Training methodology of medical students has been a subject for profound reforms during the recent years. Revolutionary technological progress is one of the reasons for this process; another reason is a constant search for the most efficient educational ideology. The article presents a historical review of medical education systems in Russia and in Europe. Innovational methods of problem-oriented training, involving use of recent electronic and technical achievements significantly differs traditional scheme, described as a «tutor-student» system. The present work focuses particularly on scientific research as a part of medical training, and its role in preparation of modern medical practitioners. It is stated that doctor is a person who combines professional skills and personal qualities. Therefore complex of technocratic and humanitarian aspects in medical education assists in development of successful training system.

Investigations demonstrate that unlike the five-mark system of appreciating students knowledge, the rating system stimulates students to study the disciplines permanently within the limits of the educational standards and also allows to develop the capabilities to scientific research activities during the whole period of the high-school tuition. As a result the quality of the knowledge of the would-be graduates and consequently of the specialists enhances.
The positive experience of applying the rating control of the knowledge of students of the fourth and fifth year of tuition accumulated by the orthopedic stomatology chair of the Saratov state Medical University confirms that the rating which presents a system of accumulating conventional units of knowledge during the whole period of attestation, allows to evaluate objectively the knowledge of students studying the subject “Orthopedic Stomatology”.

This direction of development of soviet medical education and health service in general seems progressive and prospective.
