Modern approaches to the work of student scientific society at the Department of Hospital Therapy of Saratov State Medical University n.a. V.I. Razumovsky

Summary:

The article describes the perspective forms of the student scientific society sessions. Interdepartmental and inter-university conferences open new opportunities for a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach to a particular scientific problem, broadening the knowledge horizon and facilitating the acquisition of the students' discussion and speech experience. Intellectual game as one of the new active forms of the student scientific society sessions was developed at the Department of Hospital Therapy in order to increase the interest to the discipline "Internal Diseases" and involve new students in the scientific activity of the department.

Modern surgical aspects in blood loss management in total knee arthroplasty

Summary:

The frequency of knee arthroplasty in knee arthritis is forcing the orthopedic community to take measures to optimize this surgical intervention. Despite the fact that this is a routine operation, it is often accompanied by significant blood loss. Large intraoperative blood loss leads to the development of postoperative post-hemorrhagic anemia which is an extremely unfavorable effect in the course of wound healing, moreover, it affects the length of stay of a patient in clinic and the cost of treatment. The analysis of the literature on the issue of patient blood loss management tells of divergent efforts of experts in related fields of medicine and complex multi-disciplinary research on this topic, often — with contradictory conclusions. It can be noted that nowadays there is no accurate, reliable and scientifically proven sound algorithm of blood loss management in primary total knee arthroplasty in modern Russian and foreign literature.

Community-acquired pneumonia: biomarkers of inflammation and Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids

Year: 2014, volume 10 Issue: №1 Pages: 173-178
Heading: Parmacology Article type: Review
Authors: Burbello A.T., Gaikovaya L.B., Pokladova M.V., Komok M.V., Kostyitsyna M.A.
Organization: North-West State Medical University n.a. I.I. Mechnikov, Department of Neuropathology Assistant Professor, Candidate of Medical Science
Summary:

Based on the published data the role of inflammation in development of pneumonia has been discussed. The role of inflammatory mediators and laboratory markers for diagnostics of community acquired pneumonia is evaluated, as well as prognostic role of different biomarkers of inflammation, available for clinical laboratories, but not widely used in daily clinical practice. Influence of Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids on inflammatory processes and possibilities to use them in the treatment of community acquired pneumonia is also discussed in the study.

Organization: Saratov State Medical University, North-West State Medical University n.a. I.I. Mechnikov, Department of Neuropathology Assistant Professor, Candidate of Medical Science
Summary:

The shift in priorities in the system of Russian education, transition from reproductive learning to learner-centered approach, incorporation of competency-based approach into the educational standards of "the third generation" require the training of a competitive specialist with professional competency. Types of competencies are characterized. The competency presenting certain requirements is studied. The mastering of the requirements will enable to train qualified specialists. The quality of education directly influences the level of professional activity through the training of specialists and the development of sciences. Competence-oriented modules approach and adherence to pedagogic requirements in education enables the efficacy of professional training. Innovative techniques and approaches to organizing educational process in their active form stimulate the process of studying.

Improvement of prophylax and treatment of acute respiratory viral infections

Summary:

The aim of the study is to estimate prophylactic and clinical efficacy of cycloferon concerning acute respiratory viral infection among military men in the period of formation of military units. Material and methods. 1300 military men were under observation in the period of formation of military units. There was calculated efficiency coefficient. Index of efficiency, and severity of disease, frequency of development and character of complications were established. Results. It is established that application of both prophylactic and clinical course of tablet of cycloferon in the period of seasonal increase of morbidity of acute respiratory viral infection in the period of formation of military units enables to increase significantly efficiency of prophylactic and clinical activities, to decrease morbidity, frequency of severe and complicated forms of disease. Conclusion. According to these results, the perspectives of cycloferon use in prophylaxis and treatment of acute respiratory viral infection in the closed units were worked out.

Atherothrombotic stroke: clinical data and parameters of platelet haemostasis in patients in acute stage

Year: 2012, volume 8 Issue: №4 Pages: 954-957
Heading: Neurology Article type: Original article
Authors: Goldobin V.V., Klocheva Е.G., Asadullaeva P.M., Vavilova T.V., Sirotkina O.V., Laskovets A.B.
Organization: North-West State Medical University n.a. I.I. Mechnikov, Department of Neuropathology Assistant Professor, Candidate of Medical Science
Summary:

The aim of the study was the investigation of clinical data and platelet haemostasis parameters in patients with atherothrombotic stroke for secondary prophylaxis improvement. Materials and Methods. 41 patient: 26 (63,4%) males, 15 (36,6%) females, mean age 66,0±9,4 years and 18 healthy person were examined. Neurological examination was performed, patient condition was estimated with National Institute of Health Stroke Scale and Rankin scale. The set of investigation included clinical blood analysis, adenosinediphosphate-induced agregometry, flow-cytometry, molecular genetic analysis of gene Iba. Results. There was platelet activation in patients with atherothrombotic stroke according to flow-cytometry data. The conventional optic agregometry was not helpful for revealing of platelet activation. The expression of 1ba receptors correlated with the point of National Institute of Health Stroke Scale at discharge. The incidence of Iba gene mutation was higher in patients with atherothrombotic stroke comparing with control group. Conclusions. The revealed data predispose to the possibility of individual administration of antiagregant therapy in such patients.
