The possibility of using low-intensity helium-neon laser radiation in the treatment of patients with trigeminal neuralgia

Summary:

Purpose: to evaluate the effectiveness of low-intensity helium-neon laser radiation in patients with trigeminal neuralgia. Material and Methods. With the help of low-intensity helium-neon laser radiation, 76 patients with trigeminal neuralgia were treated. For this purpose, helium-neon laser devices AFL-1 and AFDL-1 with a wavelength of laser radiation of 0.63 microns were used, the power flux was 20-25 mW. Results. It is shown that as a result of treatment with this type of radiation in most cases, both nociceptive and neuropathic components of the pain syndrome are stopped. Conclusion. For the management of pain syndrome in trigeminal neuralgia, it is advisable to use low-intensity laser radiation in complex treatment.

Summary:

Objective: to determine the effectiveness of the use of low-intensity helium-neon laser radiation in patients with post-traumatic cerebral arachnoiditis. Material and Methods. We observed 164 patients with the effects of closed craniocerebral injuries of a various severity. Methods of percutaneous laser irradiation of blood in the projection of the common carotid artery at the level of IV cervical vertebra was carried out underthe supervision of the clinical evaluation of hemodynamic data survey methods. Results. Positive results of hemodynamic parameters of examination methods indicate regression of cerebral vasospasm and improving brain vascular reserve, which led to a decrease in cerebral and focal neurological symptoms. Conclusion. The method allows the use of this technique in these patients both in the hospital and at the outpatient stage.

Summary:

The review points out that craniocerebral trauma is one of the most current problems in medicine, reasoned for its occurrence, high level of temporary disability, patients' incapacity, and considerable death-rate. Therefore, study of different aspects of craniocerebral trauma has not only medical but also social-economic significance. The authors mark that prevalence frequency of craniocerebral trauma can vary in regions of our state and abroad, it depends on a great number of factors — age, time of a day, trauma's mechanisms. Research of craniocerebral trauma epidemiology is a necessary basis for organization of rational aid for suffered and adequate measures development for primary and second prophylaxis of central nervous system disorders.
