Summary:

Aim of the study: to evaluate the effciency of detection for HIV-infection in patients of neurological departments of Saratov. Materials and methods. We retrospectively analyzed 25 250 medical histories of patients hospitalized into neurological departments of Saratov hospitals between January 2007 and April 2012. Results. Blood samples of 2010 patients (7,96 %) were tested for the presence of HIV-antibodies. 37 patients were HIV-positive (1,84 % of examined patients and 0,15 % of the total number of patients). Conclusion. Increasing popularity and variety of clinical manifestations of HIV-infection requires the expansion of neurological patients whom serum test for antibodies against HIV is needed.

Divergence of clinical features and neuroimaging results in stroke-provoked aphasia

Summary:

Aim of the study. Aim of the study. Materials and methods. Clinical and neuroimaging survey of 58 patients with acute stroke and aphasia is conducted. For identifcation aphasia type it agrees the classifcation of A. R. Lury accepted in our country, speech functions were investigated by E. D. Homsky’s technique. Results. By comparison of results of neuropsychological and neuroimaging researches it is revealed that in 40 % of cases localization of the lesion doesn’t correspond to the diagnosed type of aphasia. In group of clinical features and neuroimaging results divergences existence of average correlation communication between severity of aphasia and age of patients, and also severity of aphasia and the general weight of neurologic manifestations of a stroke is revealed. Indicators of expressiveness of neurologic defciency and speech violations in this group were authentically below, than in group of compliance. Conclusion. In 40 % of cases localization of the lesion doesn’t correspond to the diagnosed type of aphasia. Topic discrepancy appears in atypical cortical (21,74 %) and subcortical (47,83 %), location and also in tomographic lesion absence (30,43 %).

Summary:

Estimation of situational and personal anxiety levels has been done by Spielberger»s Stait-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Data were collected from 30 patients with fractures of extremities who were under treatment in the department of trau-matology during the first three days after the moment of trauma. These levels were compared to those of 24 people of random age and sex. Comparison results state that high level of anxiety has been observed for the majority of patients with trauma regardless of fracture localization, pain syndrome level and degree of functional disability
