Experimental substantiation of the results of combined techniques in treatment of soft tissue abscess

Summary:

Objective: to develop a model of purulent abscess of soft tissues and experimentally substantiate the efectiveness of the use of nanoparticles of zinc oxide (ZОN) and a drug based on lanthanum nitrate in the combined treatment of purulent abscess of soft tissues. Material and Methods. The purulent abscess of soft tissues modeling was performed using a modifed Fogarty catheter using a culture of Staphylococcus aureus in an experiment on 80 white laboratory rats of males weighing 190±25 g. Four groups of animals (20 each) were selected, which, after surgical dissection and laser rehabilitation of the cavity, carried out local therapy. In the frst (control) group, standard treatment was used, in the second group a drug based on lanthanum nitrate was used, in the third — ZОN, in the fourth — a combination of the drug with lanthanum nitrate + ZОN. Results. By the 10th day, 87±4.9 % of animals of the fourth group showed activation of the processes of collagenosis and epithelialization and complete obliteration of the abscess cavity. Conclusion. The developed purulent abscess of soft tissues modeling method is low-impact and allows optimizing the time of abscess formation with specifed characteristics. The combined treatment of animals of the fourth group due to the synergism of action creates optimal conditions for the accelerated obliteration of the purulent abscess of soft tissues cavity, shortening the treatment time by two times compared with the standard techniques.

Application of new original ointments for treatment of burns with experimental pseudomonas infection

Summary:

The research goal is to assess the efficacy of treatment with two new original ointments for burns with experimental pseudomonas infection. Burns have been caused by laser to three groups of white rats (20 animals in each group). In 3 days the wounds were infected with clinical strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The wounds of the first group of rats were treated with ointments № 1, the wounds of the second group of rats — with ointments № 2. The third group did not receive any treatment. In 3, 10 and 14 days period the number of microbial cells in purulent discharge was studied. Then they were grown on meat-peptone agar. The number of colonies was counted. The number of cells in purulent discharge of treated wounds was less, than it was in purulent discharge of untreated wounds. The number of cells in purulent discharge of treated with ointments №1 wounds was higher, than it was in purulent discharge of treated with ointments №2 wounds. The article concludes that the local antimicrobial effect of both ointments is explained by their main components — some essential volatile oils and chloramphenicol

EXPERIMENTAL BASIS OF COMBINED ENDOSCOPIC CORRECTION OF GASTRODUODENAL PERFORATION

Summary:

To determine methods of combined endoscopic correction of gastroduodenal perforations three series of experiments and investigations on esophagogastric organs have been performed for the purpose to study technical possibilities of making hollow organ wall destruction and determination of technical parameters of endoscopic defect obturation. In the second series of experiments, possibility of gastroduodenal perforation modeling has been studied. In the third series of experiments, different methods of temporary obturation of gastroduodenal perforation foramens have been used. Results have been analyzed on the basis of intraoperative observation on the 1,2,3,7 and 14ttdays after the endoscopic correction with the succeeding dynamic data evaluation of the obstruction zone endoscopic control.
Combined endoscopic correction of perforation is used when surgery is contraindicated. It must be noted that, stomach drainage, pneumoperitoneum correction, sanation, perigastric region drainage and active aspiration of contained gastric juice can be used for the purpose of increasing efficiency of preoperative treatment. Asa result of the research, special indications for the introduction of sutureless endoscopic methods for the gastroduodenal perforation treatment into clinical practice have been worked out.
