The cytokine status and the levels of thyroid hormones in children with acute respiratory viral infections

Summary:

The research goal is to study the performance of INF-а, INF-y and IL-1(3 in children with acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) depending on etiology, the presence of mixed infection, disease severity, presence of complications, the concentration of thyroid hormones. Material and Methods. Examined 147 patients aged from 1 to 10 years at the outbreak of the ARVI and 15 healthy children. Patients in the midst of acute respiratory infections was conducted to determine levels of IL-1(3, INF-а, INF-y, triiodothyronine (T3) and free thyroxine free (T4) by ELISA using standard test kits JSC "Vector-best" (Koltsovo, Novosibirsk region). Results. It was showed elevated level of INF-y in patients with PC-infection in comparison with the same indicator in healthy children. Set the increased level of INF-а in severe ARVI and the level of INF-y at medium severe form. It was showed increased levels of INF-y in patients with mixed infection. In children with complications, the level of IL-1 (3 was lower almost in 2.4 times, than in children without complications. Among patients with complications, the highest numbers of INF-а were detected in children with pneumonia and INF-y increased in patients with bronchitis. When conducting correlation analysis, the highest rates of INF-а were observed in children with the syndrome of "low T3", and INF-y in children as low T3 and low T4. Conclusion. An increase in the level of INF-y in patients with RS infection was found. Revealed that in children in acute period of SARS levels IL-1 IS, INF-а do not depend on the etiological factor of SARS. These indicators are influenced by the severity of the disease, which in our study was due to the development of mixed infection, the presence and nature of complications. High rates of INF-а and INF-y have significant inverse correlation with the level of T3, which reflects the degree of intoxication in the acute period of infectious diseases.

The aim: to study the peculiarities of structural and metabolic state of bone and cartilage tissue in patients in the first 12 months after total hip replacement with respect to their immune state and lipid peroxidation activity. Material and Methods. Significant laboratory predictors of initial signs of aseptic instability were singled out allowing estimating the peculiarities of bone tissue remodeling as well as humoral and cellular immunity state. Results. The obtained results demonstrated that impairments in T-lymphocyte system in patients with initial signs of aseptic instability of en-doprosthesis were accompanied by reduction of its total number (CD3+), among that due to the population of cytotoxic (CD3+CD8+) cells with simultaneous increase of T-helpers (CD3+CD4+) number. Activation of serum proosteoclasto-genic factors (TNF-a and IL-1(3) was noticed on the background of anti-inflammatory humoral immunity failure (IL-10). Conclusion. The estimation of cellular immunity state, content of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines in blood serum combined with the bone tissue state markers and indexes of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant system as well as dual-energy absorptiometry allows identifying patients with high risk of further development of aseptic instability in hip joint implant in the period of up to 12 months postsurgically which can be useful while planning prevention management of implant or its components instability.

Summary:

Diabetic macular edema (DME) is a leading cause of blindness in patients with diabetes. The purpose of the research is to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment of patients with DMOs resistant to the administration of ranibi-zumab, using the intrauritreal implant "Ozurdex". Material and Methods. 66 patients (98 eyes) are examined. All of the patients were divided, into three groups, depending on a stage of a diabetic retinopathy. The patients underwent a complex of examinations: along with traditional methods, optical coherence tomography, fluorescence angiography of the fundus, multifocal electroretinography, determination of the content of VEGF-Aand cytokines in serum were used. Results. According to ОСТ of a retina and a visometry there are differences in efficiency of treatment depending on a condition balance of cytokine. Conclusion. The use of the intrauretic implant "Ozurdex" was more effective in patients with DMO in the stage of p re-pro I iterative diabetic retinopathy and in patients resistant to anti-VEGF therapy.

Effect of vitamin D3 on the cytokine synthesizing activity of cells of gingival fluid

Summary:

Purpose: to study the effect of vitamin D3 on cytokine activity of macrophages and monocytes of gingival fluid. Material and methods. The examination and treatment of 42 patients with chronic generalized periodontitis at the age of 45-50 years were conducted. Gingival fluid was obtained from the periodontal pockets of patients. Material processed statistically. Results. Colecalciferol efficacy in inflammation and processes of destruction of periodontal tissue was twice higher than using traditional therapy. Resistance anti-inflammatory effect of the drug was maintained for 6 months, which had been confirmed by clinical and laboratory investigations. Conclusion. The use of applications of vitamin D in the treatment of periodontitis may achieve compensatory restoration of immune protection of the oral cavity.

Cytokine markers of the efficiency of correction of oxidative stress in patients with limited sclerodermia

Summary:

Objective: to improve treatment of patients with limited sclerodermia (LSD) by increasing efficiency and reducing the time of their treatment. Material and methods. The examination and treatment of 52 patients with circumscribed scleroderma were conducted. Two groups of these patients were formed with method of adaptive randomization. In the control group complex treatment was underwent according to the standards in this nosology. In the general group the patients additionally received antioxidant therapy. The course of treatment was 21 days in both groups. Results. Treatment results were evaluated in accordance with the dynamics of cutaneous pathological process and cytokine profile. In the course of treatment positive clinical dynamics in patients of the study group went faster and was accompanied by a more pronounced reduction in inflammatory activity in the blood serum. Conclusion. The results suggest that antioxidant therapy improves the efficiency and reduces the treatment time of patients with circumscribed sclerodermia.

Comparative clinical laboratory evaluation of leflunomide and narrow-band medium wave ultraviolet therapy for psoriasis

Summary:

Objective: to compare the clinical and laboratory evaluation of the efficacy of leflunomide and narrow-band medium wave UV therapy in patients with psoriasis. Material and methods. 60 patients with psoriasis. The patients were divided into 2 groups depending on the treatment. Patients of group 1 (30 patients) administered narrowband medium wave UV therapy — 20 procedures. Group 2 patients (30 persons) received leflunomide in combination with narrow-band medium wave UV-therapy. To evaluate the effectiveness of therapy studied cytokine profile. Results. Patients treated with leflunomide combined with phototherapy, marked a significant shift of the studied parameters and clearer resolution of lesions on the skin. Conclusion. The use of leflunomide in patients with psoriasis in combination with narrow-band medium wave UV therapy promotes a more definite resolution of psoriatic lesions on the skin and a significant improvement in quality of life, as well as the normalization of peripheral blood cytokine profile.

Summary:

Purpose: to establish the diagnostic value of the immune cells composition and cytokine activity of the cells in wound discharge from patients with acute odontogenic inflammatory diseases of maxillofacial region. Materials and methods. A total of 31 patients with acute odontogenic inflammatory diseases of maxillofacial region were examined. The number of immune cells and pro-inflammatory cytokines content (IL1(3, MCP1, IL6, IL8, TNFa) in the wound discharge were determined. Results. It has been established that depending on the severity of the inflammatory process in maxillofacial region the immune cells composition and levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines are changing. Conclusion. Determination of the immune cells composition and level of cytokines in the wound discharge can be used for estimation of the character and severity of acute odontogenic inflammatory processes in the maxillofacial region.

Summary:

The aim: to prove the necessity of professional oral hygiene before the fixation of permanent orthodontic equipment in individuals with dental and facial anomalies based on the study of biomarkers of gingival fluid. Materials and Methods: Clinical, cytological examination and gingival fluid test on cytokine levels in 80 patients. Results: In patients with dentofacial anomalies observed decline in hygiene index, and increase the content of gingival fluid neutrophils and degenerative epithelial cells. It is accompanied by an increase in the concentration of the main group of pro-inflammatory and osteogenic cytokines, growth factors. Conclusion: Preliminary conducting professional oral hygiene to orthodontic treatment in patients with dentofacial anomalies leads to the conservation values of satisfactory hygienic indices of the mouth. In this case, the increase in the content of gingival fluid neutrophils and degenerative epithelial cells, with increased concentrations of the main group of pro-inflammatory and osteogenic cytokines has been defined insignificant.

Summary:

Purpose: To establish diagnostic value of the increased content of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-8, MCP-1, RAIL) in gingival fluid at patients with a chronic periodontal disease. Material and Methods: 60 patients with inflammatory periodontal diseases were surveyed. The concentration of the studied cytokines in gingival fluid has been defined. Results: At a periodontal disease the increased level of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines in gingival fluid has been noted. Conclusion: Definition of the MCP-1 and IL-8 levels in gingival fluid can be used as a criterion of the prognosis of the severity of inflammatory and destructive processes in the periodontal tissues.
