Organization: Siberian Research Centre of Reconstructive Surgery, Saratov State Medical University, Saratov Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics
Summary:

Objective is to detect bone mineral density along the shin according to «Esperanto» levels by Hounsfield's scale. Materials and methods. The analysis of density modification in 25 patients with pseudoarthrosis of tibia with predominant localization in a lower one-third of bone has been carried out. Results. By means of computed tomography it has been revealed that the bone tissue density of the tibia in the process of false joint union when using the compressive variant of combined transosseous osteosynthesis has changed according to the regularity reproducing phase character of the accumulation of mineral substances in the bone. Conclution. The growth of mineral density of the bone tissue during treatment spreads in the directions from proximal and distal metaepiphyses to the zone of pseudoarthrosis knitting

Authors: Kochenkova О.V., Zaichenko A.A., Anisimova Е.А., Anisimov D.I.
Organization: Saratov State Socio-Economic University, Saratov State Medical University, Saratov Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics
Summary:

Objective: to reveal the variability mechanism of complexity of serrated sutures of a human skull in the correlation with cranial form. Materials and methods. Researches of 253 arches of male and female skulls of patients at the age of 1 day-105 years without signs of cranial trauma or skeletal systemic diseases with absence of morphological signs of increase of intracranial pressure. Minimal (Min) and maximal (Max) values, average arithmetic (M), a mistake of average arithmetic (m) have been studied. For definition of reliability of average size difference parametrical and non-parametric statistical criteria were used: parametrical criterion (t-criterion of Student) applied for parameters submitting to the law of normal distribution (Lakin G. R, 1990). Distinctions of average arithmetic size were considered statistically authentic from 95% (p

Metal nanoparticles in treatment of experimental purulent wounds

Year: 2011, volume 7 Issue: №2 Pages: 530-533
Heading: Surgery Article type: Original article
Authors: Babushkina I. V.
Organization: Saratov Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics
Summary:

The research objective was to study the dynamics of the bacterial contamination and the healing rate of the experimental purulent wound when applying the suspension of copper, iron, zinc nanoparticles locally. Iron, copper and zinc nanoparticles received by a plasmochemical method were used under the influence of a plasmic stream with the temperature 5000-6000°K. 40 white rats — males with purulent wounds were used in the investigation. Planimetric and bacteriological methods of study helped evaluate the traumatic process. They were carried out on the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th and 14th days. Application of the suspension of copper nanoparticles ensured the elimination of the causative agent which had contaminated the wound in a short period of time in comparison with the groups in which iron and zinc nanoparticles had been applied and the control group. The shortest term of wound healing was detected when using the suspension of copper nanoparticles; a rather less healing rate was observed when using the suspension of zinc nanoparticles. Regenerating action of iron nanoparticles was less evident considerably, but significantly differed from the control group. In conclusion it was stated that the use of the suspensions of metal nanoparticles in the isotonic solution was proved to be effective in the local treatment of purulent wounds. Suppression of microbial flora and regenerative action were detected to various degrees. The most evident antiseptic and regenerative action was determined in copper nanoparticles

Quality of life of patients with upper extremity fractures

Year: 2011, volume 7 Issue: №2 Pages: 510-512
Heading: Traumatology and Orthopedics Article type: Short message
Authors: Sholomova E.I., Levchenko К.К., Arutunyan T.R., Ninel V.G.
Organization: Saratov State Medical University, Saratov Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics
Summary:

90 patients with upper extremity fractures took part in the study. The injured patients were treated with rod and pin-and-rod type external fixation devices and by means of external immobilization. It was demonstrated that quality of life to the moment of device removal was 8-9 points higher in patients treated with pin type external fixation in comparison with pin-and-rod type. Quality of life was higher in patients with proximal upper extremity injuries

Organization: Saratov Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics
Summary:

The research work presents the results concerning opportunities assessment in prediction of total hip replacement in patients with coxarthrosis. It is done according to the level of biochemical markers of resorption and bone formation, determined in the blood serum by the method of solid-phase immune analysis. On the basis of monitoring of clinical and laboratory data of 50 patients and examination of 30 practically healthy persons biochemical predictors of endo-prosthesis aseptic instability in total hip replacement have been determined

Summary:

Hemophilia is a genetically mediated disease caused by recessive transmission of the gene. At present etiological orientation in treatment of the given pathology has just begun to develop. Replacement therapy by the concentrate of blood factors is the principal method of treatment. With great success in the sphere of medicine life quality of children suffering from hemophilia has improved significantly. However, the given category of patients refers to the high risk group to render surgical care as before. The example of the surgical intervention is an intertrochanteric osteotomy of the femur in a child with hemophilia
