The effect of medical and social factors on compliance to prevention recommendations in psoriasis patients

Summary:

Purpose: to evaluate the effect of medical and social factors on compliance to recommendations for prevention of psoriasis in affected patients. Material and Methods. Two hundred eighteen patients aged 22-43 years with 1 to 10 years from the onset of psoriasis were observed for one year. Patients were surveyed to evaluate their willingness to follow the recommendations for prevention of disease exacerbations after a detailed explanation of these preventive measures. Results. It has been established that men living in rural areas, having a family and with more than 5 years since the onset of psoriasis belong to a social group which has a tendency to ignore most recommendations for prevention of psoriasis. Conclusion. A regression analysis has demonstrated a relationship between degree of compliance to doctor's recommendations for prevention of exacerbations and their annual frequency.

Some epidemiological aspects of syphilis infection in the Saratov region (2007-2017)

Summary:

Aims: to study the epidemiological aspects of syphilitic infection and neurosyphilis in the Saratov region for the period 2007-2017. Material and Methods. On the basis of statistical materials of the state statistical observation for 2007-2017 the indicators of syphilis incidence are analyzed. Results. The analysis of the data obtained from the state statistical supervision forms during 2007-2017 has shown the decreasing tendency of number of newly reported cases of syphilitic infection. The indicators of morbidity caused by late syphilis and neurosyphilis have increased. The number of regional cases of syphilitic infection with involvement in the pathological process of the nervous system exceeds similar indicators in Russia, and late asymptomatic neurosyphilis prevails among clinical forms. Conclusion. In the Saratov region for the period 2007-2017 there is a decrease in the incidence of syphilis, which is accompanied by an increase in hidden forms of infection and neurosyphilis.

Pityriasis rubra pilaris (Devergie's disease) is a rare chronic papulosquamous skin disease, it is of unknown etiology, leading to palmoplantar keratoderma, erythroderma and ectropion. Due to its rarity and difficulty in differentiating it with psoriasis, we are presenting our own observations and diagnostcis. We present a patient with a classical type 1 iasis rubra pilaris of a type I, whose condition improved significantly after treatment with systemic aromatic retinoids.

The main attention is devoted to the combination of nervous system pathology with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The high risk of cerebrovascular diseases development is pointed in psoriasis. Material concerning neuropathy caused by the cytostatics usage is represented in patients with psoriasis.

The aim of the article is studying the epidemiological trends of neurosyphilis in Saratov region between 1993 and 2014. Material and methods. The forms of state statistical inquiry in Saratov region have been studied. Results. The incidence of syphilis and increase the incidence of neurosyphilis in Saratov region was confirmed. Late manifest forms were predominant. Conclusion. Neurosyphilis is not a rare disease of the nervous system in Saratov region in the past years. Closer cooperation between neurologists and dermatologists is needed.
