Saratov JOURNAL of Medical and Scientific Research

Current state of methodological and decisions for radiation treatment of blood, its components and products

Year: 2014, volume 10 Issue: №4 Pages: 832-838
Heading: radiation medicine Article type: Review
Authors: Gordeev A.V., Naumova L.A., Kharitonov S.V.
Organization: State Scientific Research Center n.a. A.I. Burnasyan — Federal Medical Biophysical Center of Federal Medical Biological Agency
Summary:

This article presents currently used blood transfusion media — components and blood products, therapeutic effects, reactions and complications of blood transfusion, use of radiation treatment for blood transfusion fluids. There had been discussed in detail the practice of radiation processing of blood components and for the prevention of reaction "graft versus host" and studies of plasma radiation treatment for its infectious safety. There was presented the current state of techniques and technical solutions of radiation treatment of transfusion-transmissible environments. There were also considered an alternative to radiation treatment of blood.
